Refer someone to Moovers
Most of our work comes from somebody telling somebody else. This page explains how to refer a person to Moovers and, more importantly, how to make sure the referral is actually recorded against your name rather than disappearing into a busy week. The reward terms are set by the office and are marked below.
What counts as a referral here
A referral is simple: you tell someone who is moving to call Moovers, they get a quote, and they book. Your name is attached to their job from the point they first get in touch.
You do not need to have moved with us yourself to refer someone, and the person you refer is under no obligation. The quote they get is free either way, so a referral costs them nothing to follow up on.
How to refer someone
The whole thing takes about a minute, and the more of these you do, the more likely it is to be recorded properly.
- Send them the phone number, (631) 256-4498, or the quote page at /quote.
- Tell them to mention your name on the first call, before the quote is given.
- If they use the quote form, the question asking how they heard about Moovers has an option for word-of-mouth referral. Ask them to pick it.
- Ask them to put your full name in the notes field of the form as well. That field is read by a person.
- Alternatively, email hello@wearemoovers.com with your name and theirs and let them know you have done it.
- Give them the honest version of your experience, including anything that was difficult. A referral that oversells sets everyone up badly.
Making sure it gets credited to you
This is where referrals get lost, and it is entirely avoidable. The point of failure is almost always timing.
- Get it recorded before the quote is given, not after the move is finished. Once a job is booked and closed out, attaching a name to it retroactively is a much harder conversation.
- Use your full name, spelled the way we would have it on file, and mention the town you moved from if you moved with us.
- Ask the person you referred to confirm they mentioned you when they called.
- If you refer several people, mention each one separately rather than assuming a running total is being kept somewhere.
- If you are not sure whether it was recorded, call the office and ask. It is a thirty second question.
The reward
The referral reward has not been set on this page. Placeholder for the actual reward, what triggers it, when it is paid, whether the person you referred receives anything as well, and whether the referred move has to be completed rather than just booked.
Nothing has been guessed at here on purpose. Whatever the reward is, it should be stated plainly and paid the way it is described.
Agents, property managers and repeat referrers
Real estate agents, building managers, office managers and contractors refer differently: regularly, in volume, and usually with a client standing next to them who needs an answer that day.
If that is you, call the office directly rather than working through the general form. Say what your volume looks like, what you need from us in terms of turnaround and paperwork, and whether your buildings routinely require certificates of insurance.
Placeholder for whether there is a separate arrangement, rate or point of contact for agents, property managers and other repeat referrers, and whether it differs for commercial work.
Send someone our way
